CLOSE Gallery has been featured in Artlyst’s 'preview' for our current group exhibition in Somerset, Rock Paper Scissors.
The Artlyst article highlights how Rock Paper Scissors transforms the simplicity of the childhood game - rock, paper, scissors - into a meditation on material, choice, and creation. It draws attention to the wide-ranging materials on show, from stone and wood to fibre, textile, clay, found fragments and feathers; and to how the exhibition reframes familiar gestures of play into an inquiry into tactility, transformation and imaginative making.
The show brings together a group of twelve artists: Kate MccGwire, Ted Rogers, Susanna Bauer, Alice Freeman, Anya Paintsil, Darren Appiagyei, Hana Moazzeni (Previously Shahnavaz), Nicholas Lees, Dean Coates, Peter Randall-Page, Amy Stephens and Hew Locke - working across sculpture, painting, textile, installation and fibre arts.
Rock Paper Scissors runs at CLOSE Gallery from 29 November 2025 to 17 January 2026.
