Gordon Cheung featured in Trebuchet Magazine

THE SOLO EXHIBITION 'Many worlds, one mind' opening on june 6th AT CLOSE GALLERY, HAS BEEN FEATURED IN A RECENT ARTICLE BY trebuchet magazine

The feature explores how contemporary artist Gordon Cheung examines the forces of capitalism, technology and colonial history through layered multimedia works that blend Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

Cheung’s new exhibition, Many Worlds, One Mind, opens at CLOSE Gallery from 6 June to 15 August 2026. Bringing together 28 works across sculpture, painting, print and etching, the show reflects on the social and political mythologies created by global finance and digital culture.

Known for incorporating Financial Times stock listings, maps and digitally altered imagery into his practice, Cheung uses visual fragmentation to question materialism, memory and the instability of modern systems. Highlights include works from his New Order series, inspired by the Dutch Golden Age and tulip mania, alongside Passages of Time, a sculpture informed by traditional Chinese scholar’s rocks and contemporary data landscapes. Raised in London by Hong Kong-born parents, Cheung has developed a visual language that moves between classical art history and technological innovation. His work is held in the collections of Museum of Modern ArtBritish Museum and Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Many Worlds, One Mind, runs at CLOSE Gallery from 6 June - 15 August 2026.
