We are pleased to share a new feature on LOOK OUT, published by Art Plugged, exploring our current group exhibition at CLOSE Gallery, Somerset.
Bringing together artists across generations, LOOK OUT considers landscape as more than a view, exploring its relationship to memory, belonging and the changing world around us. The exhibition spans painting, sculpture, drawing and installation, placing selected works by twentieth-century British landscape painter Ivon Hitchens alongside new and recent work by contemporary artists including Saad Qureshi, Magnus Hammick, Christabel Blackburn and Dien Berziga.
The feature explores how the artists approach landscape as both a physical environment and a psychological space, shaped by personal experience, inherited histories and our relationship with the natural world. From imagined topographies to close observations of the Somerset countryside, the exhibition considers how landscape can offer a sense of continuity and connection at a time of environmental and social change.
