Onya McCausland Featured in Art Plugged

In a recent feature in Art Plugged, Onya McCausland’s works in her upcoming solo exhibition Tailings at CLOSE Gallery, Somerset are explored for their engaging approach to the environmental consequences of industrial mining. The article highlights McCausland’s innovative use of pigments extracted from the by-products of mining, transforming materials of ecological disruption into a palette of ochres, rusts, and smoky tones. Through her works, McCausland examines the layered history of industrial extraction, blurring the lines between natural beauty and environmental cost.

Tailings serves as a material archive and a reflection on the lasting imprint of industrial activity on both nature and culture. The exhibition runs from April 25th to May 30th, 2026, and invites viewers to engage with McCausland’s compelling reimagining of art and ecology.
