This image derives from a series of photographs that the artist took whilst travelling through the Somerset countryside. Light is central to the piece. Different times of day are juxtaposed to convey a moving image within a single painting: dark clouds and sky sit alongside dynamic lines and flying objects that appear to be drones, an element in her work and part of her ongoing series ‘Inventing Drones That Can’t Fly’.

Since her childhood, Myrna has painted and now, long recycled the motif of old wooden fence posts. Traditionally, these posts mark enclosure and property lines, they provide structure and they enable containment, keeping livestock in, and intruders out. In her work, the posts begin to move into more random positions within the scene, alluding to a more confused sense of purpose and delimitation of the land. By placing them where they do not quite belong, she reflects from a female perspective, on the places in the landscape where she can and cannot go, comparing her personal experiences in Mexico and England.
